THE Wirral Premier Cup and Sunday Amateur Cup made inroads in to the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday League Programme.

Division One side Ellesmere Port Athletic sank Premier Division outfit Great Float Sports & Social 2-1 in The Wirral Premier Cup with a strike each for Charlie Jones and Jay Horan.

Efforts from Danny Dixon, Connor Courtnell, Jay Clare and Dave Forbes were enough for Dock to see off the challenge from fellow Premier Division rivals Rock Ferry Social (Joe Foster) 4-2.

Another all-premier division clash saw Queens Park beat Saughall FC with a comfortable 6-0, thanks to a brace each from Stewart Jackson and Liam Driscoll, supported by efforts from Leon Detlaff and Wade Sword.

Another giant-killing act saw Heygarth United (Carl Boyd) move into round two with the tie being won 6-5 on penalties against Neston Nomads (Rob Cottrell) after the match ended 1-1 after extra time.

A four-goal salvo from Leon Jones, supplemented by a Harry Whate strike, for Bushell Athletic saw off the challenge of New Ferry Rangers who replied through Dave Sadler and Liam Stephens,

Wirral Sunday Amateur Cup action saw Lions FC (Ameel Al Gamri, Terry Ainsworth, Steve Dutton, Mike McKay) earn a place in the second round with a resounding 4-0 win at Queens Liscard.

They will be joined by AFC Shaftes (L Griffiths, A Weston), who defeated fellow division one rivals Telegraph 2-0.

Also in the hat for the second round is Shaftesbury Youth (Karlin Fleckner, Lewis McKnight, Kyle Bennett) with a 3-1 result over The Cat (E Port).

Corsair FC, with Jason Bull and Paul Ryan on the mark, claimed their place after eclipsing St Andrews United, with a narrow 2-1 win,

Domestic action saw plenty of goals in all league games with Stirrup Sports & Social (Gary Shone, James Beacall, Kevin Woods (2)) climbing the division two table after mixed start to the season registering a fine 4-1 success over South Rangers Athletic (Ben Ryan) to make it three teams at the helm.

Late newcomers Franklyn FC maintained their perfect start to the league campaign with a second maximum haul of points at FC Vaults (Callum Hitchman and Ryan O'Connor) thanks to a double from Jay Harvey and singles from Sean Daley and Tom Sinkinson, while Wirral FC (Phil Palethorpe Matt Lydiate, Liam Rose) registered their first points of the season after winning The Third Division title last May at Upton Town (Matty Crawford).

Game of the day in Division Three saw Paolos FC deliver an emphatic 7-3 scoreline to take pole position after recording their third maximum and having not dropped a point thanks to a hat-trick of braces for Paul Johnstone, Callum Derby and Leon Bower with Matthew Hindmarsh also on the scoresheet to inflict a first league defeat on Rangers Breaks (Chris Caress, Russ Edwards and Shane Moore).

A treble from Kieran Doherty gave Barcodes (with further efforts from Luke Male, John Allen (2), Adam Jones and Liam Headford) a resounding 8-3 scoreline over Victoria Colts.

FC Tranmere (Brad Bradey, Ste Williams, Lewis Wallace, Liam O'Brien) posted a first win of the season at AFC Tima and MSC Eastham (Joe Smith, Laurence Whelan Keith O’Toole) accounted for Ship Inn Hoylake 3-0.

Next week sees the start of the Wirral District Sunday Junior Cup.
