CAPENHURST Villa recorded their fifth win of the season and assumed pole position in the battle for the West Cheshire League's Division Two title, following Saturday's 3-0 victory over Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves.

Charlie Bell, Steve Rowlands and Corey Beavan shared the goals as a rejuvenated Cape enhanced their claims for a return to the top flight.

Back-to-back wins inside five days saw Mallaby elevated to sixth place in the table and Saturday's 4-2 eclipse of West Kirby Res featured goals from Tommy Johnstone (2), Ben Glover and Ellis Byrne.

Dale Morris and Jason Bull netted Kirby's consolations.

Goals from Rainhill Town Res' Phil Dixon, Jamie Pendleton and Chris Raynard were negated by replies from Maghull Res' Jay Dooley, Sam Lawrenson and Mike Cummins while Adam Bagley, Sam Collingwood and Ross Pringle applied the finishing touches as Wirral SB beat Prescot Cables Res 3-0.

That enabled third-placed Upton AA to take closer order, after efforts from Peter Hyndman and Joe Ormrod anchored them to a 2-0 result at Ellesmere Port Town.

A solitary strike from Craig Williams earned Hale maximum spoils from their clash with Marshalls.

In contrast, goals were in abundance at Neston Nomads, who put Chester Nomads to the sword; Jack Lloyd, Kai Herbert, Rob Cotterell, Callum Hulmston and Lewis Clark obliging in a 5-0 rout.

Despite a brace of penalties from Dean Nunn and a goal from Jamie McColl, Vauxhall Motors Res played second fiddle to Richmond Raith Rovers, who emerged 5-3 victors highlighted by doubles from Paul Gouthwaite and Jonathan Parkinson. Mike Wynne was the other marksman.

Redgate Rovers' 3-0 decision over Ashville was confirmed by efforts from Ollie Gallagher, Robbie McDonald and Jacob Jones.

Boasting six wins from as many outings, leaders Aintree Villa continued to force the pace at the top of Division Three and on Saturday, it was a shell-shocked Ellesmere Port Town Res who bore the brunt as Villa posted a 10-2 win, inspired by a fine hat trick from John Lawless.

Doubles from Connor Jeavons, Thomas Jump and Stephen Andrews and a further effort from Danny Tattan completed the statistics.

Second-placed Chester Nomads Res, with Billy Mann (2) Cam Clarke and Charlie Mann on target, beat Capenhurst Villa Res. 4-1 while three-goal Anton Yool took the plaudits as South Sefton Borough savoured a 5-2 decision over Burscough Dynamo.

Allfie Hawkins and Jake Maddox made the scoresheet for Wirral SB Res. in their side's 2-1 verdict over Marshalls Res and it was celebration time for Poulton Royal, who won 5-3 against Neston Nomads Res, with goals from Karl Baker, Tom Farrington, Joe Carroll, Shaun Mooney and John Pomphrett.

Unbeaten Youth Division leaders, Bootle Under 18, romped home 7-1 against West Kirby U18 with Aiden Noon (3), Cameron Grant (2), Will McGlade and Will Quayle on the mark.

It was hats off to young Harry Taylor, who struck four times as Vauxhall Motors U18 went into overdrive in a 7-1 success against Litherland Remyca U18.

Goals from Tom Gray (2) and Toby Seal helped West Kirby Utd U18 to a 3-2 victory at Bootle Youth Academy U18.
