THE line-up for five of the eight CWFL cup finals have been decided in a hectic week for the league.

Shaftesbury Youth will play Newton Athletic for the CWFL Roodee Web Designs TGMT on Saturday (May 5) at Vauxhalls after each side won their respective semis.

Newton Athletic saw off Upton JFC 8-1 with goals from Ben Woodman (3), Jack Denman (2), Marc Moorefield, Mark Richards and Tom Moorefield.

Sam Brownlow hit the consolation for Upton.

Shaftesbury's win was a tighter affair as they edged past Ellesmere Port FC Reserves 2-1 thanks to goals from Danny Whitehead and Ian McGraa. Lewis Fearon netted a penalty for the Port in reply.

The other deciding games were played on Monday night and Friday night in the CWFL Flexi 11s.

Wirral Utd will contest Billbeckers for the Ellesmere Port Cup after they beat Hoole Youth 1-0 and AFC Chester will play Clubbies for the Chester Cup after their impressive 4-0 win over M&S Bank.

In the Friday competitions the Woodchurch cup will be fought out between Tipographic and Shaftesbury Youth after the latter beat league leaders Wirral Allstars 2-0.

In the Charlene Marie Trophy Paul Ricci gave CBP a 1-0 win over Travs at Blacon High 3G.

They will meet River Juniors who won the Semi final derby game with FC River 4-0.

Helsby FC are the pride of the CWFL this week after picking up the Runcorn District FA Cup for the second straight year with a fine 2-1 win over Royal Rangers.

Helsby secured their first silverware of the season with goals from Adam Collins and Zak Pearson.

In the week's other cup game Franklyn's beat Christleton Celtic 3-2 in their group B qualifier for the CWFL Dee 106 League Cup.

Franklyn's goals came courtesy of Tom Gunnery, Steve Rothwell and Nana Eneh with Joe Houghton and Cal Bratley replying for Celtic.

St Saviours have had a busy week, picking up two wins from two in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One.

On Wednesday night they travelled to Helsby where they picked up a 5-2 win.

Then on Saturday they supplemented this with an important 3-1 win over fourth-placed Cestrian Alex, thanks to goals from Liam Wall, Jack Sheppard and Tom Hockley. Elliot Davies replied for Cestrian.

Earlier in the week Cestrian Alex had beaten Chester Argyle 5-1.

Chester Nomads III signed off their CWFL fixtures with a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Elton Athletic who had Adam Hall (2), Jordan Egan (2), Will Conway and Tom Barbet on the scoresheet.

FC UBER and Blacon Youth also had wins in the week with Blacon beating Princes Villa 2-1 and UBER beating Hoole Rangers 4-1.

The CWFL Link Up Division Two title race is hotting up after Rockville held leaders Ellesmere Port Reserves to a 0-0 draw on Monday Night.

This leaves them only two points ahead of second placed Upton Bears Paw, who had a 9-1 win over Orange Athletic midweek and who also have a superior goal advantage.

Third-placed Malpas enjoyed a 6-4 win over Eastham Athletic thanks to strikes from Lee Parry (4) and Chris Ingle (2).

Pete Pegasiou, Ryan Edwards, Connor Barry and Mark Owen were the Eastham scorers. Rossmore Rangers got back to winning ways with a 4-0 home victory over Orange Athletic with goals from Jay Shuttleworth, Tom Fletcher, Jordan Bowyer and Jonny Lancaster.

Earlier in the week, Rockville defeated Hoole Youth 9-1 and Crossway went down 3-1 to FC Duddon.

In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 1 Avenue Vets beat Blacon Youth Vets 5-1 with strikes from Les Gibson (2), Chris McGinn, Robert Courtney and Terry Cotgreave.

"The Mighty" Tarvin Vets continue their run of form in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 with a 4-1 win over Frodsham Park Vets with goals from Sean O'Rourke (2), Mike Pond and Dave Addiscott.

In the same division Upton JFC Vets, Phil Cordell and Simon Knox (2), drew 3-3 with HB Kelma Vets, Dave McNeil, John Moulton and Greg Beasley.

In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Three, Luke Guest (4), James Parry (2), Chris Welsh (2) and Ian Davies all hit the mark for Ellesmere Port Town Vets in the 9-0 win over Hartford Vets while Dave Megson netted for Crossway Vets in their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mostyn Vets.

The CWFL are currently accepting applications for our open age, veterans and flexi competitions.

The CWFL will be adding extra Monday Night and Friday Night Flexi Divisions to be played at the brand new 3G facility at Neston High School.

The divisions will be kicking off in September 2018.
