Vauxhall Motors . . . 2
Redditch Utd . . . . . 0TWO wonderful goals from Mike Garrity and Paul Taylor ensured that the Motormen got off to the best possible start to the new Blue Square North season against Redditch United on Saturday at Rivacre Park.
Midfielder Garrity struck the opener after just 13 minutes, when he ran across the face of the area before lifting a sweet left-foot shot into the top corner, giving Redditch 'keeper Lewis no chance.
And if that was good, the best was still to come, when former Manchester City youngster Taylor struck an absolute peach, nine minutes into the second-half, to effectively wrap up the points. He first slipped his marker before unleashing an unstoppable left-foot shot into the top corner, leaving Lewis rooted to the spot.
At the other end, home 'keeper Sean Lake was rarely called into serious action.
This Saturday, Vauxhall travel to face Kettering Town, one of the title favourites.
