CAPITOL Cup second round fixtures were again affected by poorly maintained pitches that caused postponements.

But six did take place.

Upton Town swat down West Kirby Wasps in a 4-2 victory as Patrick Taylor netted a treble and Callum Mernock a single, with Matty Knowles and Jamie Phillips firing the replies.

Nelson FC had Jon Pomphrett as a four goal hero as they beat Eastham Rangers Colts 6-0, with Harry Little and Alex Vile adding the extras.

A goal apiece from Macauley Lathom, Harry Griffiths and Jordan Hunter saw Wallasey Wanderers produce the shock of the round when beating AFC Tima 3-1, who had Dave Turner as lone scorer.

A double strike from Matty Keogh and a single from Lewis McDonald enabled PLCCFC to run out 3-1 winners over Wallasey Mens whose lone goal came from Connor Eccles.

Two goals apiece from Rob Ashton and Miles Amer allied to singles from Adam Smith and Liam Dane gave Higher Bebington JFC a 6-1 result over Allport Hawks with Matty Roberts scoring the consolation.

Top score of the day came when Poulton Vics eliminated Stonegate with an 8-0 success in which Karl Barker grabbed a hat-trick, Dan Banicale added a brace and Graham Edge, Sean Wright and Steve Kane all claimed singles to ease home.

One fixture took place in the Second division and resulted in a 3-2 win for North Wirral Saints and moved them into pole position by one point but having played more games than their rivals.

They beat Eastham Rangers who had Josh Cooke and Drew Taylor as their marksmen in a see-saw game.

Two games played in the Grove Youth division and saw leaders Irby Youth come from 0-2 down to take spoils in a 3-2 victory thanks to efforts from Liam Cullen, Alex Weston and Dan Evans that put their team five points clear at the top.

Hitting the responses were Tom Danby and Ben Banks.

Higher Bebington Under 17s lost the chance to close the gap as they were beaten 5-3 by Glenavon Athletic who move onto level points due to Josh Kendal (2), James Shepherd, Blake Rowlands and Alex Lamb finding the net.

Rob Golightly netted a fine double and Nathan Hickson a single as Beb continued their fight for the title.

The Dutchman Cup Final between Halfway House and North Wirral Saints is scheduled to take place at Cammell Lairds 1907 ground this Sunday (11am kick off).
