THE semi-final line up for the Chester & Wirral Football League's Doug Johnson Vets Trophy has been decided.

Shotton Steel will be joined in the hat by Avenue Vets, Capenhurst Villa Vets and Neston Nomads Vets.

Avenue were awarded their tie after Blacon Youth Vets withdrew from the competition late on Friday night.

Anthony Ashton, Dean Barlow, Carl Ngiam, Gordon Mcloud, Phillip Strap and Allan Williams were the scorers for Capenhurst as they beat Frodsham Park Vets 6-0.

Neston also won 6-0 at home to Mersey Royal with Trevor Warsley (3), Paul Davies, Andy Smith and James Thompson the scorers.

Ellesmere Port FC pulled off the result of the day in a top v bottom clash with Higher Bebington Kelma in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division.

The form book would have suggested an easy win for Kelma but the Port side had other ideas and threw the proverbial book out of the window, winning 4-3.

Graham Davidson (2), John Britton and Mark Jones were the hometown heroes for the day with Steve Dawson (2) and Kerry Mahon relying for the hapless Kelma.

Sutton Athletic took full advantage of the slip up by Kelma to record a 6-2 away win over Ellesmere Port Town A.

This win moves Sutton within one point of top spot thanks to goals from Paul Butler (2), Pete Barnett (2), Liam Brennan and Connor Doyle with a 20-yard screamer into the top corner.

Newton Athletic keep themselves in the mix after a hard fought 5-3 win over Helsby.

Helsby took the lead twice in the first half with Newton replying both times.

Newton broke the deadlock early in the second half, going on to win the game.

Ben Woodman lead the scoring for Newton with three, followed by Dan Christianson and Dan Eaton.

Jay Burton and Ste Jackson were the Helsby marksmen.

St Saviours are the days top scorers after seeing off FC UBER 10-2 in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One with goals from Jack Sheppard (6), Joe Burns (2), Liam Bishop and Lloyd Drysdale.

This win takes them to within a point of leaders Clubbies who could only manage a 3-3 draw with the in form Cestrian Alex.

Liam McGovern netted all three for Clubbies with Adam Crimes (2) and Matty Gilmore replying for the Alex.

Adam Newbolt scored for Helsby Reserves as they went down 2-1 to Elton Athletic, Adam Brawn and Aaron Lavender.

Harry Hornsby and Pete Wheeler were both on the mark for Hoole Rangers as they beat Chester Nomads III 2-0.

Ellesmere Port FC Reserves made it 12 wins from 12 as the beat Rossmore Rangers 6-2 in the day’s early kick off in the CWFL Link Up Division Two thanks to strikes from Josh Forster (3), Lewis Fearon (2) and Danny Hale.

Upton Bears Paw remain in second with a 4-2 win over Rockville thanks to goals from Mark Legge, Jonny Stone (2) and Chris Larson.

Rob Martin (3), Lee Parry, Luke Hughes and Chris Ingell were all on target for third-placed Malpas Reserves who beat FC Duddon, Stu Johnson and Sam Jones.

Hoole Youth continue in their good run of form with a great 4-0 win over Eastham Athletic with goals coming from Karl Rixham (2) and Taylor Owen (2).

Iain Thomas netted twice for Orange Athletic as they beat Crossway 2-1, Jase Day the Crossway scorer.

On Saturday the CWFL Rep XI travelled over to Harrogate to play York FL in the FA National Inter League Cup Round Two.

The result did not go the way the CWFL had of hoped, going down 8-1 with York scoring four times in the final five minutes.

Friday Night brought about the launch of the CWFL's fourth Flexi Division with the inaugural games of the CWFL Friday Night 11s (Woodchurch) being played.

The first game was played between AC Hoylake and Wirral All stars with the later coming away with a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Ryan Coles (2) and Steve Ryan.

Phil Spears netted for Hoylake.

In the night's second game Wasps beat Tipographic 4-1 with strikes from James Thomas (3) and Steve Mottram.

Alan Craze replied for Tipographic.

In the CWFL Friday Night 11s (Ellesmere Port) John Hesketh netted twice for FC River as the beat M&S Bank 2-0.

Rob Shenton and Sam Lloyd recorded a brace apiece for Travs as they beat North West Brom, Jack Wilkinson, 4-1 and Ashton Phoenix beat Chester Lions 7-0.

In the CWFL Monday Night 11s (Chester) Hoole Youth beat M&S Bank FC 4-0 while Clubbies entertained the CWFL Rep XI in a friendly fixture going down 3-1.

Over at the CWFL Monday Night 11s (Ellesmere Port) goals from Alex Major, Mike Roberts (4), Steve D'Arcy and Will Foster gave Billbeckers a 7-0 win over Ship Argyle while Jack Darlington netted twice for West Kirby FC as they went down 4-2 to Wirral Utd, Joe Skinner (2), Thomas Wellings and Josh Robertson with the winners.
