IT was back to league action this weekend and, despite the weather's best efforts, was almost a full programme.

In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division Shaftesbury Youth remain top after a 5-1 win away to MBNA.

The scoreline was slightly deceiving as with 25 minutes left the score was locked at 1-1.

But Shafts turned up the heat and came away with all three points, thanks to goals from James Osbyrne, Danny Whitehead, Lee Griffiths, Danny Smith and Tom Hodson.

Tom Povey netted for the bankers.

Sutton Athletic beat Newton Athletic 4-0.

This win cements second place for Sutton and keeps the pressure on Shafts as Higher Bebington Kelma could only muster a point in their eagerly-awaited match with Christleton Celtic.

Clubbies remain top of the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One after a convincing 6-1 victory away to FC UBER.

St Saviours beat Cestrian Alex 4-2, Hoole Rangers and Elton Athletic drew 0-0 in their clash and Helsby Reserves had cause to celebrate after beating Blacon Youth Reserves 2-1.

Upton JFC beat Princes Villa 5-3.

Rossmore Rangers enjoyed a 6-2 win over Malpas Reserves in the CWFL Link Up Division Two.

Crossway beat Princes Villa Reserves 4-0.

Dan Owen, Danny James and Andy Gill were the scorers for Eastham Athletic in their 4-4 draw with Beehive.

Chris Larsen and Jamie Hughes were the scorers for Upton Bears Paw who beat Hoole Youth 5-1.

Karl Rixham netted the consolation for Hoole.

In the CWFL Monday Night 11s Chester Division Clubbies AFC enjoyed a 5-1 win over Balfour Beatty FC.

Cestrian Legends - Jay Sinnot and Adie Gough - and Hoole Youth, Sam Wynne Hughes and Ryan Mooney, fought out a tight 2-2 draw.

Over at the CWFL Monday Night 11s Ellesmere Port Division Andy Simpson, Max Littler and Sam Byrne were all on the mark for Wirral Utd in their 3-1 win over TRIC FC, Ellis Williams was their scorer.

In the night’s other game Gary Penketh, John Wellman, Kyle Davies and Mike Roberts were the scorers for Billbeckers FC as they beat Ship Argyle 4-0.

CWFL Friday Night 11s action now and Danny Fortune and Gary Baker were the scorers for River Juniors as they beat M&S Bank 2-1.

Andy Simpson replied for M&S.

El Porto had a 5-0 win over North West Brom thanks to goals from Liam Clarke, Jacob McCormack, Liam Gilmore and Cameron Lockett (2).
