SHAFTESBURY Youth remain early frontrunners in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division after making it four wins from four with a 3-2 victory over Christleton Celtic at the Memorial Ground in Prenton.

Danny Whitehead (2) and Ryan Griffiths were the Shafts scorers.

Newton Athletic recorded their first win of the season with a 6-2 win over MBNA.

Sutton Athletic claimed bragging rights in the Ellesmere Port derby after beating Ellesmere Port FC 3-1.

The Port took a first-half lead through Rob Hartley, but Sutton turned the game round after the break thanks to man of the match Connor Doyle (2) and Matty Hall.

In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One, Clubbies bounced back from midweek defeat by St Saviours thanks to a Jim Lehman brace, beating Blacon Youth Reserves 2-1.

St Saviours did not have such a good day as they went down 3-0 to much-improved Elton Athletic.

The win sees Elton leapfrog the Savs and move into second place, just one point behind Clubbies.

Josh Camy (3) and Adam Crimes (2) were the Cestrian marksmen as they beat Chester Nomads III 5-0.

After some midweek reorganisation Chester Argyle got their first points of the season with a fine 3-2 win over Upton JFC.

In the CWFL Link Up Division Two Upton Bears Paw move into second place on the back of a 4-1 win away to Princes Villa.

Mitch Glover was the Princes' marksman with winners coming from Gareth Stevenson, Joe Yates, Carl Griffiths and Chris McCaffrey.

Goals seem to be following Malpas Reserves this season.

In their four games to date in the CWFL there have been 25 goals scored.

After a thrilling 5-5 draw midweek with FC Duddon they entertained Birkenhead side Beehive to log a 6-3 victory with goals from Adam Kightley, Tom Ellis and Callum Parry (4).

Rob Maddocks, Dave Adler and Tyler Gratton scored for Beehive.

Carl Rixham bagged a brace for Hoole Youth as they drew 2-2 away to Crossway, Bryan Mills and an own Goal.

Next week sees the big kick off for the CWFL Veterans Divisions.

In the Tarvin Precision Vets Division One Avenue Vets will be hoping to get off to a good start as they entertain last season's Division Three champions Neston Nomads Vets, whilst in Division three, newcomers Capenhurst Villa Vets entertain fellow newcomers Mostyn Vets in what promises to be a close encounter.

The CWFL Monday Night and Friday Night 11s Flexi Divisions will be kicking off in the week commencing September 25, once all the mid- week fixtures have been concluded.
