THE Wallasey Association's Federation team had a great start to the 2017 season, winning both the home and away legs of their match with Fylde 'A' on Sunday.
In the home-tie the team had eight winners with Matthew Gilmore and Rob Fitzpatrick top-scoring with 21-06 and 21-7 wins respectively and, overall, the team won by 211-179.
The away-tie was played on the tricky Marton Institute green in Blackpool and Wallasey had seven winners to take a 215-207 victory.
The away team's best performances were by Josh Bunting and Neil Sherbrooke.
The overall points tally was a 426-386 victory for Wallasey, which meant that the match result was a 23-09 win.
This victory was a great result for the Wallasey team and it augers well for the rest of the season.
Their next match is against Airedale 'A' on Sunday, June 25.
Wirral Junior Pairs Tournament is held this Saturday at Cammell Lairds.
Entrants should arrive for 11am and the draw for pairs takes place at 11.30am.
