AS Vauxhall Motors' senior players reported back for pre-season training on Saturday morning, manager Carl Macauley widened his net for new faces to bolster his squad.

The Motormen have been weakend by the loss of both captain Stephen McNulty and Lee Woodyatt, who have both joined Blue Square Conference North rivals Barrow.

The Rivacre Park boss has only recently returned from holiday but is already looking forward to the new campaign with eagerness.

But he knows his squad will be operating with a budget considerably less than most of his rivals.

"We can give anyone a game at this level, as we do have genuine quality at the club," said Macauley. "I will always send out a side I believe are capable of winning because that is the way I am."

Some new signings are expected to put pen to paper during the next week, when a new member of the backroom staff is also likely to be announced.

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that admission prices for their three home pre-season friendlies' against Football League opposition (Macclesfield Town, Chester City and Tranmere Rovers) will be 5 for adults (concessions 3).

The first of those games is on Monday, July 16 against Macclesfield (7.30pm).
