CARL Macauley's relegation-haunted Vauxhall Motors enter the crucial Easter programme still looking anxiously over their shoulder in Nationwide Conference North, following the latest setback at home to Workington.

Two defence errors cost the Motormen dearly, as they went down 2-1 to the Cumbrians.

Vauxhall's cause was not helped by the late withdrawal of Brian Moogan through injury, to add to other absentees Joe McMahon, Tom Field and Mike Garrity.

This meant a first start for new recruit Darren Jones, alongside two other recent arrivals, veteran Carl Nesbitt and youngster Keith Smith.

Motors are now three points better off than the club occupying the last relegation place with six matches left.

The first of those is away at Hinckley on Saturday, followed by a home game at Rivacre Park against basement club Lancaster City on Easter Monday (kick-off 3pm).

Macauley will be targeting a minimum of four points from those two games, to keep his side ahead of the chasing pack.

Meanwhile, the club have been delighted by the response to their special offers for the last two home games.
