JUST when Vauxhall Motors needed it most, they recaptured the winning feeling with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Nationwide Conference North relegation rivals Leigh RMI at Hilton Park on Friday night - and the tormentor-in-chief was striker Lee Furlong.

Vauxhall manager Carl Macauley, without suspended midfield duo Tom Field and Mike Garrity, gave new recruit Keith Smith his first start while welcoming back to the club long-serving former hero Carl Nesbitt - and they looked like they had been playing together all season!

But it was Furlong who stole the show. He set the tone by powerfully heading home Stuart Whittaker's sixth minute corner and Motors simply never looked back. The same player also headed home the second on 52 minutes from Brian Moogan's free-kick and 11 minutes later, co-striker Thomas Rooney joined in with a superb strike of his own to wrap up three valuable points.

Play-off candidates Workington visit Rivacre Park this Saturday (kick-off 3pm) in another important Nationwide Conference North fixture for both outfits - and you can be there at a discount price by presenting the special cut-out voucher that appears on the back page of this week's Wirral Globe.
