A WIRRAL man will set off on a bus tour tomorrow morning for six local charities.

Stephen Potter, from New Brighton, came up with the fundraising idea last year, while travelling home on the bus.

He glanced at his day saver ticket and saw the words 'North West and Wales Area'.

Not someone to shy away from a challenge, he decided to go on a tour of the area.

The trip starts outside the Archway Cafe in Argyle Street, Birkenhead at 10am. It ends next Thursday, June 2.

Along the way, Stephen will stop off at a number of destinations including Bolton in Lancashire, Macclesfield in Cheshire and Aberystwyth and Welshpool in Wales.

Proceeds will be split between Birkenhead-based charities, Advocacy in Wirral, Arch Initiatives, Charles Thompson's Mission, Spider Project, Action on Addiction, Wirral CVS and Liverpool-based hospice Zoe's Place.

Looking forward to getting on board for the trip, writer Stephen, told the Globe: "I'm really excited about going on the tour, because it's got potential to raise a lot of money for these charities.

"I do a lot a of travelling by bus and use the ticket to get around the area. I also read a lot of travel books.

"So I can't really think of a better and more enjoyable way of raising money for good causes than going on a bus tour to see how far I can get.

"Logistically, it's been a big trip to organise, but I have now worked out where I'm going."
