EVENING visiting times at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals will change from Monday.

Visitors to general wards at the hospitals can call in on friends and relatives between the new hours of 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Lesley Metcalfe, deputy director of nursing at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We know that visitors value speaking with nursing staff so that they can understand the care and treatment that is being given to their friends or relatives.

"The new visiting times, brought forward by half an hour, are being introduced to ensure that our nursing staff have more time to speak to patients' relatives and friends prior to their new handover period with colleagues."

The change in visiting times does not apply to the Trust's maternity or paediatric wards at Arrowe Park Hospital where visiting hours are unrestricted.

Afternoon visiting times, between 3pm and 4pm, remain unchanged.

The Trust also highlighted that the changes do not apply to Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology or Springview, which although based on the Clatterbridge Hospital site, are managed by other healthcare providers.
