ISSUES of anti-social behaviour and ways of tackling the problems will be discussed at a special conference planned for March.

Home Office minister Paul Goggins will address the conference and speak to local people about their experiences of anti-social behaviour when he visits the borough on Friday, March 24, at the invitation of Wirral South MP Ben Chapman.

The crime and disorder conference, supported by Wirral Borough Council, will take place in Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight. Community leaders and groups will be invited to comment on existing tactics for dealing with anti-social behaviour and to agree an action plan forming part of Wirral council's crime and disorder strategy.

Electronic voting kits will be made available to the audience enabling them to express priorities on certain issues.

The results will then be used to refresh Wirral Council's priorities in tackling anti-social behaviour.

Mr Chapman said: "It is clear people have had enough of the loutish behaviour which too frequently blights not only town centres but also residential areas. It's vital people should be able to go about their business without living in fear"
