Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday League with John Traynor
A NEIL Cook goal was all that was needed to send Division One side Royal Sun Alliance into the Wirral District FA Soccer Company Sunday Premier Cup Final.
They sunk co-favourites and current holders Dock FC 1-0 and will meet Queens Park (Andy Bolton, 2, Shaun Dodd, Kev Bimpson, Liam Atherton) who had a comfortable 5-0 win over Victoria Seniors to make it an all-Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday League Final.
Houlihan's Variety Club made progress in The Houlihan's League Memorial Challenge Cup with a superb 6-0 rout of Premier Division rivals Warwick. Anthony Sample, Stephen Mills, 2, and Mark Taylor were among the goals.
FC Prenton's revival continues with a 1-0 win over Stirrup Sports & Social, thanks to a Carl Graham effort. Shaftesbury 02 took maximum points to sting FC Beehive 5-2 with strikes from hat-trick star Matty Cass and singles from Dean Stewart and Alan Mortin.
Rock Ferry Social took advantage in Division One to move three points clear at the top after a 6-2 success in a derby game at Hornby/Trafalgar (Tony Jones, 2). Bidston Hotel (Sean Quigley, Steve Jones) triumphed 2-1 over St John's Celtic (Jason Stenhouse) to stay in touch with the leaders.
Penny Lane went five points clear at the top of Division Two with a great 5-2 win at close rivals Horse & Jockey. Ged McEvoy, Paul O'Hare, 2, Essa Hailah and Peter Fortune all found the back of the net.
In Division Three, Heswall Windows Ltd inflicted a first league defeat on Saddle Club with a Mike Hughes strike.
Gary Burns, 2, Ged McWha, 2, Craig Holman and Paul Talman were on the mark for Ultra Seal with a 6-2 convincing win over Saughall (Paul Elliot, Gareth Farley).
