VAUXHALL Motors are back in action on Friday night when they make the short trip to Hilton Park, home of Leigh RMI, in a crucial Nationwide Conference North fixture (kick-off 7.45pm), with both camps embroiled in a relegation dogfight.

Playing their first away match following the appointment of Carl Macauley as manager, the Motormen planned a rearguard action at Worcester City last weekend, with the hope of hitting the home side on the break by playing a sole striker.

But while their whole defence stood strong to gain a valuable point in a goalless draw, they rarely troubled their City counterparts. The point still left the Motormen adrift at the foot of the table (see Page 82), but certainly gave them renewed heart after three successive defeats.

Meanwhile, last night the club were officially presented with the FA Charter Standard Community Club award, in recognition of all the tremendous hard work that goes on behind the scenes at Rivacre Park involving the youth, junior, ladies, coaches and admin staff, who all give up their valuable time free of charge.
