CALDAY Grange Grammar School has applied to Wirral Council for a change of use of land near Telegraph Road, Caldy. The planned change is from its use as playing fields with changing facility and access road, plus parking.
Recommendation from planning officers is to approve construction of three new sports pitches and a changing pavilion, despite numerous objections.
They come from a number of properties, including The Hey; The Beeches; Kings Clere; The Steeple; Rowardennon; Paton View; The White House; Wynnfield House; Lombardy; Corner Meadows; Woodland Hey; The Pippins; Bennington; Veronica and Pikes Peak, plus other neighbouring properties objecting to an 'unjustified inappropriate development'.
The Green Belt Council objects to the size of the building and is concerned about noise and disturbance. Wirral Society objects to loss of Green Belt land. English Nature and Wirral Wildlife do not object, while the Sports Council is in support.
Caldy Society objects to the size of the proposed building, it being a traffic hazard, noise and drainage problems.
Avalon School in Caldy Road, West Kirby, wants a strip of garden land to be used for a dropping off area by parents. Objectors include Hoylake Civic Society and Warwick Drive Conservation Group. Council officers recommend approval.
