TRANMERE Rovers fan for 75 years, Margaret McGinley celebrated her 100th birthday this week at Nazareth House, Claughton. Young son John McGinley, aged 69, of Woodchurch, said: "Mum looked great on her big day and still follows Tranmere Rovers through the sports pages.

A FAMILY fun day takes place at the Farmers Arms, Frankby, on Sunday, raising funds for a local Scout group. There'll be lots of activities, including craft stalls, pony rides, a clairvoyant, bouncy castle, candy floss, barbeque and games.

GLASS company boss John Edwin Taft, of Prenton, is to appear at Liverpool Crown Court for plea on July 29 in the Heswall 'Beauty in the Bath' murder case. Taft was committed, in custody, by Wirral magistrates. It is alleged he murdered 50-year-old Cynthia Bolshaw 16 years ago.
