CAMMELL Laird's reborn-again success story continues. Cable and Wireless Global Marine has issued a letter of intent to Cammell Laird for an order worth around £19m to convert two former Ro Ro ferries into cable-laying ships.
The two 10,000-tonne sister ships will be fitted with cable equipment and new decks.
The first vessel is already at Cammell Laird's Tyneside Yard, where both conversions will be carried out.
The former ship-building yard is now a thriving Birkenhead-based shiprepair business, with a healthy order book.
