RAILTRACK has spent £40,000 improving safety on the Melrose Avenue crossing. It will also be easier to use. The measures include installation of a new non-slip surface, better signage, a new wicket gate and realignment of the existing crossing gates to shorten the distance across the track.
Coun Gerry Ellis with Ken Jones and John McKenna, of Carr Lane Residents' Association, were involved in the safety campaign.
