MERSEYSIDE Sub Aqua Club has been awarded a £17,000 lottery grant by the English Sports Council.
The Wallasey-based club will use the cash to buy an inflatable boat and diving equipment. The club has 102 members, but owns only one boat and is often forced to hire a second one when large groups wish to dive or snorkel.
New gear will encourage a larger membership and means that plans to give local youngsters the chance to have a go at diving can be realised.
