DENTURES are frequently the butt of jokes - but they are rarely seen as funny by people who are newly fitted with them. Now a new brochure has been launched which answers many frequently asked questions.

The 12-page brochure from the British Dental Health Foundation allays a number of common fears including whether dentures alter the way a person speaks and eats as well as whether dentures change the shape of the face.

It also answers such questions as the difference between conventional and immediate dentures, what a new denture feels like, how they are made and why they are necessary.

'Tell Me About Dentures' features an easy-to-understand question and answer format which sets out information simply and clearly. The questions were identified from those asked on the BDHF helpline Word of Mouth (0870-333-1188).

The brochure is available by sending an sae marked 'DENTURES' to BDHF, Eastlands Court, St Peter's Road, Rugby, Warwicks, CV21 3QP.
