SAILING by Andrew Stratton
MIKE Hartley is the new Falcon Class Champion. Sailing Harrier, he won five out of the seven races staged by West Kirby Sailing Club on the Dee Estuary and it gave him a four points advantage overall over West Kirby team mate Peter Healey in Golden Eagle.
Holder John Burthem, in Hawkwind, was third. Gareth Wright and Gerald Riley took Hilbre class races, while Star successes were gained by John Watkin and Sarah Laing.
Nikki Melling in the Operas and Margaret Wharton in the Cruisers won the annual ladies races at Hoylake. In the Opera series, Gavin Melling scored twice in Silvana.
At Royal Mersey, John Smith, in Mercator, took the latest Mylne event.
