PREMIER League club Coventry City are heading for Wirral - but without their £6 million star striker, Robbie Keane.

Tranmere have drawn Coventry in a Worthington Cup second round tie, the first leg of which is at Prenton Park, probably on Tuesday, September 14. But Coventry boss Gordon Strachan will be without Keane, his recent capture from Wolves. The Republic of Ireland international is cup-tied, having made a substitute appearance for Wolves in the first round.

Rovers face Coventry after a 4-3 aggregate victory over Blackpool in the first round. Tranmere won 3-1 at Prenton Park last Tuesday, in front of another poor crowd - 4,800. David Kelly, 2, and Scott Taylor earned the cup ticket.
