BBC Radio Merseyside broadcaster Roger Summerskill made waves at Hoylake Lifeboat Day from the top wing of a stunt bi-plane. Above a crowd, estimated to have reached 30,000 people, Roger from New Brighton, waved to spectators.

Earlier there had been some doubt that weather conditions would allow the Utterly Butterly Barnstorming Boeing Steaman bi-plane to take off from Speke. First the stunt girls flew over, then an intrepid Roger. The Red Arrows provided the finale.

Roger's flight was also for RNLI. Readers wishing to sponsor his flight should ring 647-6780.
