From Christine Baldwin:-

I WAS horrified to discover that, after a campaign by a large number of residents to save the fields at Fender Lane, Moreton, Wirral Council is now reconsidering allowing houses to be built there.

The open fields at Claremont, Reeds Lane and around Fender Lane may be taken out of the Greenbelt. It is proposed that 240 houses could be built on that land. We have so little countryside in Wallasey and Birkenhead that I think we should retain and protect the Greenbelt.

As one of our contributions to the Millennium celebrations, I hope that this land will be kept for agricultural and recreational use for the sake of the local population, now and in the future.

If you, too, object to these proposals, please contact a local councillor or the Planning Department (Tel: 638-7070) before September 26th.
