From J.H.:-

SALLY Passmore (Mailbox, August 25th) seems absolutely beside herself in her condemnation of the actions of the police in issuing fixed penalties to illegally parked cars at Thurstaston during the recent eclipse.

However, the drivers who left the vehicles there in the first place must shoulder all the blame. They were not on this occasion 'law abiding citizens'.

Mrs Passmore must also realise, surely, that the A540 between Caldy and Heswall is an extremely dangerous road when drivers are irresponsible? How many fatal accidents have there been there recently? How many letters have appeared in this paper demanding better safety on this road?

What would she say if someone had been killed due to lazy and selfish drivers leaving their cars where they shouldn't?

Think again, Mrs Passmore. You protest too much.
