PLACID conditions ruined Liverpool Yacht Club's Offshore Trophy race from Liverpool to Port St Mary.
The fleet became becalmed in misty conditions in Liverpool Bay and, with little prospect of reaching the finish in reasonable time, all crews eventually opted to head back to the Mersey.
Royal Mersey staged their Down River Race on Sunday. Phil Bastow led the Mylnes in Mermerus, while Cliff Renshaw in Bluebird finished alone on the Squibs.
Some of the local clubs will be taking part in the West Lancashire Yacht Club 24 hour race at Southport this weekend. The start on Southport Lake is at noon.
