WAYNE Allison, Tranmere's new £250,000 signing from Huddersfield Town, is relishing the opportunity to provide the answer to the club's scoring drought which has seen the Wirral club plummet to the bottom three of the Nationwide League Division One.
And he couldn't have hoped for a bigger compliment from new manager John Aldridge, who said he would have liked to have partnered the former Bristol City, Swindon and Huddersfield striker during his distinguished career.
Said Allison: "That is a big compliment because the manager's scoring ratio was phenomenal and I've got great respect for him. It's nice to feel wanted again, because first team football is what I need."
Meanwhile, midfielder Tony Grant is at Prenton Park on a month's loan from Premiership club Everton. The skillful midfielder, who made his Tranmere debut with Allison during Friday's 3-0 defeat at Barnsley, is out of favour at Goodison Park and sees the loan move as a chance to put him in the shop window.
