PART of a major thoroughfare in Birkenhead will be closed for two weeks from Monday (November 8). Urgent work by Transco to repair a gas leak means that part of Argyle Street will be closed temporarily from 9.30am.
The closure will affect southbound traffic travelling from the Conway Street roundabout towards Borough Road.
Transco will be working on the southbound section of road between the edge of the roundabout and Grange Road East.
Diversion signs will re-direct traffic along Conway Street, Exmouth Street, Whetstone Lane and Borough Road to the roundabout at the foot of the flyover which links up with the A41 New Chester Road.
Pedestrians will still have access to the Post Office and other businesses in the affected stretch of Argyle Street.
