TWO men who supplied crack cocaine and heroin to under-cover police officers have been jailed.

David Price, of Dovedale Avenue, Eastham, was sentenced to five years' imprisonment, and Michael Craven, of Livingstone Gardens, Birkenhead, to four years.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that 28 year-old Price had been arrested for possession with intent to supply in July.

He was released on bail and on three occasions in the following month both he and 30 year-old Craven supplied under-cover officers with crack cocaine and heroin.

Mr John Philpotts, prosecuting, said that the investigation was part of Operation Portland, set up to target drug suppliers in the Conway Street area of Birkenhead.

Price admitted that he had been supplying drugs for two months.

The court heard that when Craven came out of prison after a prevous drug conviction, he owed money to a drug dealer and was pressurised into paying off the debt by becoming a drug runner.
