DIVERSIONS, narrow chicanes and road closures cost an award-winning driving range £50,000 in losses, it was claimed this week.

Sutton Fields Centre say they suffered a big drop in visitors following Railtrack's work to replace a bridge over the A56 at Sutton Weaver.

Barbara Ford of Sutton Fields is anxious to make people aware that work has now been completed and the road is open.

She said: "The road is now clear for customers who gave up their visits in frustration at the disruption.

"We have had nine months of hassle. We estimate we have lost £50,000 turnover during that time."

Sutton Fields Centre has won two prestigious awards - Vale Royal Tourist Assocation's Attraction of the Year Award for 1999/2000 and the 2000 Cannon Hygiene Loo of the Year Award.

They were among 1,000 individual loos entered in the search for the best loos in Britain and were commended by the judges for their overall cleanliness and high levels of hygiene.

A golf driving range, cafe, licensed bar and crown bowling green are among the facilities offered at Sutton Fields.
