A NEW initiative is set to make a splash with Wirral's youngsters.
Wirral Hospital has launched the Multiple Birth Swimming Group, a pioneering project to aid the development of twins and other multiple birth children of pre-school age.
The project was set up by Jeanette Appleton, Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist, to ensure these kids have the chance to take to the water and learn to swim.
Jeanette says: "There is a legal requirement for children under the age of five to have one-to-one adult supervision in swimming pools. This means that multiple birth children may miss out on swimming because it can be difficult to arrange supervision."
Jeanette teamed up with the local branch of the Twins and Multiple Births Associations (TAMBA), West Kirby Grammar School for Girls and the West Kirby Concourse Leisure Centre to launch the group.
