THE Pyramids Shopping Centre now has its very own life-saving equipment to 'buy time' until paramedic help arrives.
A fully automated defibrillator costing over £2,500 and partly funded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) was given to the shopping centre last Friday.
Lynn Brown, regional director of the BHF, said: "We are delighted to fund this equipment which will benefit the people of Birkenhead."
The machine issues a controlled electric shock to 'jump start' the heart following a cardiac arrest.
Members of the South Wirral Branch of the BHF handed over the equipment to Mel Glasby, manager of the Pyramids Shopping Centre.
Lynn added: "The BHF relies on voluntary donations and our South Wirral Branch needs support from local people to help raise funds. Anyone who would like to get involved should contact Graham Cox on 334-2443."
