A WOMAN found driving a stolen car claimed she had bought it for £250 from a man outside the car auctions in Ellesmere Port. She also claimed to have bought a tax disc from a different vehicle from the same person for £10, Wirral magistrates heard.

Amanda Jane McCready, aged 18, of Rockville Street, Rock Ferry, admitted dishonestly receiving the car knowing it to be stolen and using it without insurance and when not covered by a licence.

Prosecutor Stephen McPeake said the Ford Fiesta car was reported stolen from outside Arrowe Park Hospital. Seven days later a traffic warden saw the car at Europa Boulevard displaying the disc. She informed the police, who stopped McCready when she drove off later.

McCready had to pay £75 costs and to serve 100 hours' community service.
