MATT Haddrell's first goal for Vauxhall Motors proved to be enough to bring his side all three points against determined Kendal Town at Rivacre Road on Saturday.
The narrow win against the struggling Cumbrians keeps the Motormen right on course for a second successive promotion to close a glorious first season in Unibond League football.
Haddrell struck seven minutes into the second period, smashing a first time volley into the net from a Carl Nesbitt free kick.
Vauxhall are now second in the Unibond Division One table, hard on the heels of leaders Ashton United and with a vital game in hand.
They take a break from league action tonight (Wednesday) with a visit to high-flying Stalybridge Celtic, who are on the verge of promotion to the Nationwide Conference, at Bower Fold in the League President's Cup semi-final.
And on Saturday Vauxhall are away once more, resuming the chase for points at Eastwood Town.
