BIRKENHEAD Park were far from happy after their South Lancashire/Cheshire match at Birchfield was called off less than hour before kick-off.
Birchfield claimed the pitch was unfit after rain and, although the referee and Park were prepared to play, the game was postponed and a new date later this month will have to be found. And Oldershaw were unable to do Park a favour in their match at Warrington. They showed character, but were on the wrong end of a 32-0 scoreline.
In Division Two, Wirral saw off Crewe and Nantwich 32-8. Wayne Challinor, Simon Hignett, Richard Ritchie and Dave Van der Zwan touched down, Paul Proudman kicking the rest of the points.
Wallasey travelled to Ormskirk and scored a try, conversion and penalty in a 10-27 reverse.
In Division Three, Anselmians triumphed 27-14 at Marple to stay top. There were tries for Martin Pilgrim, Neil Williams, Mark Evans and Gareth Williams, who hit a conversion and a penalty. Mark Weaver also landed a goal.
Hoylake whipped Eagle 39-3. Richard Young, Kevin Jones, Ben Flint, Neil Parsley and Trevor Boult were credited with tries, while Simon Robinson targetted four conversions and a brace of penalties.
Prenton took the Division Four derby at Parkonians 23-14. Mark Pearson converted two tries by Terry Williams for Parkonians. Danny Hodson, 2, and Peter Lewis touched down for Prenton, with Mark Peers adding a conversion and two penalties.
Caldy, in North Two, had no joy at Aldwinians as they lost 0-24.
Matches this Saturday include Caldy at Vale of Lune, Birkenhead Park v Leigh and Anselmians v Hoylake.
