A READER came up with a solution to Arrowe Park Hospital's parking problem (Globe, March 28). Well done!

Even better, though, why not make the centre parking area free for the first four hours, thereafter £5 per hour? That should make those day shift workers who can't walk more than 30ft to work, find alternative travel/parking arrangements, thereby freeing up that area for people visiting sick relatives or attending for treatment.

Why not tarmac the surrounding football fields and golf course and use them for staff only car parks?

Not the author

MRS B. Carr, of Sudworth Road, Wallasey, has asked us to point out that although she did write praising Oldershaw School's drama production, she was not the author of the letter 'Parking meters - and no free places for hospital workers' published in last week's Readers' Mail pages.

We apologise to her - and to the actual author of the 'Parking Meters' letter, who requested anonymity.
