BUDDING Byrons and Wordsworths have the chance to share their talent with the nation thanks to an annual poetry competition.

It is time for local poets to enter their work for possible inclusion in this year's National Poetry Anthology.

One poet will be chosen to represent each town in the book, and all winners will receive a free copy.

Peter Quinn, editor, says: "This annual anthology is designed to encourage new writers. It is rapidly growing in popularity since the first edition in 1999 and we expect the new one to be even better."

To enter the competition, send three unpublished poems on any subject (up to 20 lines and 160 words each) with a loose stamp if you want a reply to United Press Ltd, 1 Yorke Street, Burnely, BB11 1HD by June 30 2001.
