GROUND-BREAKING writer and producer Phil Redmond was joined by familiar TV faces to open Birkenhead Sixth Form College's new performing arts and media studies centre.
The new development contains state-of-the-art facilities for performing arts, music and media studies to open up even better opportunities for students.
Phil Redmond, who created Brookside and Grange Hill, is an honorary professor of media studies at Liverpool's John Moores University and is involved in a host of education initiatives.
Principal Roger Cracknell said: "We are pleased and honoured to have professor Phil Redmond here to open our new building. The development, which has been made possible with the help of European funding, is part of a continuous programme of investment to provide Birkenhead students with the best in education."
