I FULLY support the views expressed by Julia Jones in the letter headlined "Council has given up" (Readers' Mail, July 31).

Moreton has grown tremendously in recent years with extensive housing developments, resulting in more and more people moving to the town. This, in turn, has put extra demand on services such as schools, nurseries and leisure facilities etc.

It is a fact that we need more facilities like the drop-in playcentre at Moreton Family Centre and to suggest closing it, or even moving it to another area, will make it inaccessible for young mums or dads without their own transport.

As for closing Leasowe Recreation Centre in favour of a smaller facility, this again is an insult to the people who live close by, including, of course, the residents of Moreton, who regularly use the facility.

Wirral Council should be providing larger and better facilities for the people from the Wallasey area.

Why can't they have a pool as good as the one in Birkenhead?

Yet again, Wallasey appears to be losing out as the 'poor relation'.
