I WAS concerned to read that some of Wirral's allotment tenants are unhappy with the service provided by the Council ('You've lost the plot', Globe front page, July 24).
Tenants complained that the service they receive does not warrant the national award gained by Wirral for its allotment work. Since the report in the Globe, I have spoken at length with the Council Officer responsible for allotments.
I will be meeting with him soon, at a local allotment in Wallasey, to discuss some of the concerns raised by the tenants.
If spokesman Gordon Nash, or indeed any other allotment tenant, wishes to contact me with their views, they are welcome to do so. Alternatively, they should contact their site secretary (almost all allotments have a site secretary who works with the Council on behalf of the tenants).
Ian Lewis,
Conservative Councillor for Wallasey Ward.
