CLAIMS that the proposed giant statue of the sea god Poseidon could rival other monuments are miscalculated.

The Statue of Liberty has a deep and historical meaning. The London Eye is modern and has a function. The Angel of the North is meaningful and highly symbolic for many.

The sea god of Poseidon would have to have a renaissance of his mythological powers to bring about a 'renaissance of Wirral'. For once, I agree with the Conservative councillors - it would be a ridiculous, meaningless monstrosity.
