AN elderly woman died from injuries after falling from a commode chair at the nursing home in which she lived.
Wirral coroner's court heard that 92-year-old Edith Bowden, who lived at Hillgrove Residential Home in Eleanor Road, Birkenhead, was being put to bed by a care assistant on October 11.
Coroner's officer Arthur Flower told the court that Mrs Bowden was being helped into bed and had been sat on a commode chair while her bed was being prepared. She had attempted to stand up but fell over.
After the incident, Mrs Bowden, who had a history of falling over, was put in bed. The next day she did not appear to be well and was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where she died on October 15.
A post mortem showed she had died from massive subdural haemotoma, or blood clotting within the skull.
Wirral Coroner Christopher Johnson recorded a verdict of accidental death.
