WIRRAL-based TV presenter Esther Mcvey is pictured testing out the equipment at a new 'outreach' gym for people with heart problems.
Created as partnership between Wirral Heart Beat and Merseyside Fire and rescue. Some 25 people were present at last Wednesday's opening. The gym features the latest defribrillator and regular training is provided to gym supervisors, ex-patients and firefighters.
Derek Noble, who is the chairman of Wirral Heart Beat, says another outreach gym is planned for Bromborough fire station in August this year.
Heart Beat is a registered charity dedicated to assisting the work of the heart suppport centre at St Catherine's community hospital in Birkenhead.
In some parts of Wirral, the level of cardiac disease is twice the national average.
