WIRRAL's amateur photographers have swept the board in the annual Mersey River Festival photographic competition.
Among them was Alan Chape from Oxton, who won an Epson Stylus R800 Photo Printer after coming first in the Special Section: Sea Liverpool 2005 - sponsored by Epson UK - with his entry 'Lost View'.
This year is a major maritime milestone for the river festival organisers, Liverpool City Council. It was the 25th anniversary of the Mersey River Festival and the city is also focusing on its forthcoming role as European Capital of Culture by making 2005 Year of the Sea.
The Sea Liverpool trophy was presented to Alan by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston - the first person to sail single-handed and non-stop around the world.
Another Wirral winner was Stuart Macauley from West Kirby, who won the mono category in the main section, Merseyside People and Places, with his entry 'Leasowe Lighthouse.'
