A STRETCH of Barnston Road in Barnston has been closed until further notice after a water main burst.
The closure affects Barnston Road from its junction with Storeton Lane to its junction with Gills Lane.
Diversion routes are in place while work to reopen this part of the road continues.
For traffic travelling from Arrowe Park along Barnston Road, motorists will be diverted via Gills Lane, Pensby Road, Telegraph Road and Barnston Road.
Traffic travelling from Gayton/Heswall along Barnston Road will be diverted by Storeton Lane, Station Road, Lever Causeway, Mount Road, Woodchurch Road, Arrowe Park Road, Barnston Road.
Those travelling from Storeton along Station Road/Storeton Lane will be diverted by Barnston Road, Telegraph Road, Pensby Road, Gills Lane, Pensby Road and Barnston Road.
Access for residents and businesses in the area will also be maintained at all times.
Meanwhile, Heron Road in Meols remains closed off days after a water main burst.
Maintenance workers shut off the road at 4pm on Thursday to begin emergency repair work.
A council spokesman said this afternoon that work will resume once the weather improves.
Heron Road is closed from its junction with Birkenhead Road to its junction with Pump Lane.
