SAMURAI SWORD: A Wallasey man facing charges of affray and other allegations was sent to the Crown Court by Wirral Magistrates.

Michael Wockenforth, 52, of Clarendon Road, Wallasey, was bailed to go before a judge on November 26 for a preliminary hearing.

He is charged with bodily harm assault at King Street, Wallasey, in September, possessing an offensive weapon - a samurai sword - in a public place and using or threatening unlawful violence.

CUT FROM CAR: A woman had to be cut from her car after it was driven into from behind but fortunately was not seriously hurt, prosecutor Alan Currums told Wirral Magistrates.

Jonathan James Aspinall, 23, of Barnston Road, Heswall, admitted careless driving in Bedford Road, Rock Ferry, and also using the vehicle with a defective tyre in October.

He told police the accident was his fault. He was not paying full attention and did not see the other car until late on.

The court heard Aspinall already had 12 penalty points on his licence and he said he knew the score and that he was going to be banned.

The court took away his licence for six months and fined him £250 plus £100 costs.

PRISON HARRASSMENT DENIED: Paul Bradbury, 41, of Deveraux Drive, Wallasey, was remanded on bail until January 8 for trial by Wirral Magistrates.

He denied harassment of a woman between May 19 and July 2 by sending letters and cards from Walton prison.

ABUSE AT HOSPITAL: A 48-year-old man was twice arrested by police on the same day at Arrowe Park Hospital because of his abusive and aggressive behaviour, Wirral Magistrates were told by prosecutor Alan Currums.

Paul James Houghton, of Fender Way, Birkenhead, admitted two charges of being drunk and disorderly.

He said he was confused after suffering a fit and also drinking on top of medicine and did not in the slightest know what was going on.

He expressed regret and was fined £100 plus £115 costs.

ALLEGATION WITHDRAWN: The prosecution at Wirral Magistrates Court withdrew an assault allegation against a 21-year-old Birkenhead man.

Alan Currums for the Crown said Michael William Landsborough of Brooklands, Birkenhead, had accepted a police caution.

It had been alleged he assaulted a man by beating at Central Park, Liscard, in August.

NOT GUILTY PLEA: A Prenton resident appeared before Wirral Magistrates charged under the Protection from Harassment Act.

Lee Raymond New, 33, of Nursery Close, pleaded not guilty and was conditionally bailed until December 15 for evidence to be called.

It is alleged New pursued a course of conduct between 29 August and 18 September which amounted to the harassment of a woman by phoning her, texting her and calling at her address on several occasions despite being warned.

REMANDED ON BAIL: Peter Sydney Wilson, 50, of Gautby Road, Birkenhead, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Wirral Magistrates charged with assault by beating at Arrowe Park Hospital in October.

He was remanded on bail until January 6 for a trial to take place.

PROCEEDINGS DELAYED: Committal proceedings for an alleged burglar were delayed for a week at Wirral Magistrates Court.

James John Abrams, 20, of Brougham Avenue, Birkenhead, was allowed bail.

He is charged with entering a home in Thorsway, Birkenhead, and stealing furniture, DVDs, CDs, a digibox and a stereo unit at the beginning of August.
