FUNDRAISING for Wirral Autistic Society's Home from Home is continuing with a number of events in the run up to Christmas.

The Globe has supported the appeal - to build a state of the art respite centre for people with autism - since it was launched in February last year.

It has raised £900,000 so far and there is still a whole range of extra funding due in.

Rick Myers, WAS fundraising officer, said: "Thanks to the Globe the response from the people of Wirral has been staggering.

"As we near the end of the appeal we hope that this will continue as we reach the final stages.

"We are well into the building of the centre and it will be complete in June next year. We're even taking bookings for July."

The centre will be the only one of its kind in the north west and places will be in demand from the word go, said Mr Myers.

Two events are coming up in aid of the appeal - a car boot sale and a pub quiz.

The car boot sale will take place between 9am and 1pm on Sunday, November 29, in the car park outside WAS premises at 2-10 Grisedale Road, Old Hall Estate, Bromborough.

It costs £8 per car, and there will be refreshments and toilets available.

Book and pay in advance by contacting Diane Burke on 07971 829922 or Rick Myers on either 482 3145 or 07887 631218, or by email at rick.myers@wirral.autistic.org

The pub quiz will take place at the Little Brighton Inn in Rowson Street, Wallasey, on Friday, December 11, starting at 7.30pm.

Entrance is £5 a team, maximum six members per team.

A raffle will take place and there will be free refreshments.
